This show has been assembled by Hugh Lynch for your listening pleasure, and Hugh will be presenting along with the rest of the RFD team. Come along and be Rundgrenned :)

I can't match anything by the Bluudy Moos with caves, perhaps you are thinking of Rick Wakeman's Journey to the Center of the Earth, which of course fits quite well.

Being a Moody Blues fan--introduced at a speaker builder's showroom in Crisman, Colorado in 1970--I bought this on a flyer from a used-CD store. It was a travesty. Some kind of mishmash of Moodies songs with orchestral overdubs. It didn't last long in my collection.

I left "Journey to the Centre of the Earth" off my list because it had already been mentioned. I was introduced to Wakeman by way of... hmm... I think it was the "Six Wives..." record in a demo at a stereo equipment dealer (learned of Alan Parsons the same way). Maybe it was the King Arthur album. Long time ago.I bought a copy because I liked it, and found "Journey..." and others by association. There's a more recent remake of this which is, to me, less successful. They polished the creative spark out of it. As happened with the orchestral "Tubular Bells," I think.

Edit: error correction

On Sunday 8th July, Radio Free D'ni will broadcast the first of two shows featuring the work of pioneering jazz-rock guitarist Allan Holdsworth. We will cover his career up to the end of the '70's in the first show. and from 1980 on in the second. This divides fairly neatly his work in other peoples bands from his albums as a bandleader and solo.
The first show includes tracks from 'Igginbottom, Ian Carr's Nucleus, Soft Machine, Tony Williams Lifetime, Gong, Bruford, Jean-Luc Ponty and UK, along with a couple of collaborative tracks with pianist Gordon Beck.
The show is a co-production with Hugh Lynch, who will also join us on air.
Sample some liquid guitar brilliance with us :)

On Sunday 22nd June, Radio Free D'ni will broadcast the second and final part of our study of Allan Holdsworth, the British fusion guitarist and composer who died last year. This show will cover his years as a solo artist, with some sidetracks into later collaborations, so from 1982 onwards. Pre and postshow will largely be filled by tracks from guitarists influenced by Holdsworth, including Alex Lifeson, Carlos Santana, Robben Ford, John Clarke and Guthrie Govan. Last call for the Holdsworth express :)

The show is a co-production with Hugh Lynch, who will also join us on air, we hope, providing we can overcome the technical issues that still haunt us from the communications disaster that has hit our main engineer and broadcast facilitator, Edison Rex. We are working to get Malaclypse's setup tested and proven - if we fail, it will be just me again. Fingers are crossed.
But in any case, come and sample some liquid guitar brilliance with us.

On Sunday 5th August, Radio Free D'ni will broadcast a Rarities and What-if's show, our eighth of these, and our 98th show overall. This time we will include Miles Davis, Men at Work, 4 Non Blondes, The Beatles and The Timelords, amongst a host of others, forgotten and obscure.

Hugh has provided some of the tracks for this show, so we will have another take on the Rarities and What-ifs theme. Hugh won't be able to join us, though, he is still waiting for his laptop to be repaired under warranty. Edison Rex is back on engineering duty, his internet connection having been restored to reliable functionality.
