It looks like this got lost in the reshuffle, so I thought I would repost it

Teamspeak for those of us who want to use it. It is very convient if you are trying to all get together in one age and get lost.

Why use TS when we're supposed to be testing the in game voice? GD posted something to that effect earlier. I'll see if I can dig up that post and put the link here.

Using TeamSpeak makes coordinating inter-age things much easier and the internal voice chat function only works in a short distance.

Teamspeak shouldn't avoid you from using the internal voice chat function and also shouldn't replace it.
The problem is just that the inter-age text chat is still not working and as it is necessary to communicate from one age to another sometimes (when someone crashed for example) there's a need for an external chat client.

Btw. I found the post you were looking for: http://www.urulive.com/forums/viewtopic ... 2931#12931

GD talks about testing URU chat here:
http://urulive.cyanworlds.com/forums/vi ... ght=#12931

Can't find the other I thought I read. Maybe it wasn't grey or on this forum.

maybe it was on UO... I'll check there.

My point exactly! It's just a reminder that we're there to test and that means all functions. If we have a hood full of people and use voice, how does the game react? If everyone escapes to out of game chat, then we aren't doing valid testing.

Yes, it's a great sub right now since cross age PM is out the window.

I think we're on the same page.

I hope that using TS as a back up to a way of finding the person you WERE with, when a bug was found?

Untill such times as the interage IM works, its always good to have some way of staying in touch?

it will also allow people to state that hey have been knocked out of the game. that is what we have been using it for so far.

Some of us are currently in Gahreesen again and only every third person makes it to the roof by using the elevator... good to have a TS server in those cases. :)

Not that I am going to use TS but how secure is this to non beta players ?
You don't want infiltrators listening in do you?
Just a thought I do see it's password protected but since when has that stoped people trying.

First of all they have to know that there is a TeamSpeak server. Then they'll have to know the adress and port number for it and last they'll have to find out the password. Therefore I think that the danger of non-beta testers listening to what is said on TS is really low.

Xfire is really great! I'll have to agree with ya sista. It was part of the download for Beta, but not really part of the game.

We looked into it and liked the idea that nobody has to set up a server like TS requires.
