I am a total newbie, and have never dealt with FTP sites before. Can anyone tell me how to see and upload pics onto the site?

1. Grab a FTP program of your choice. (For example FileZilla)
2. Type in the server/user information. (There are some text boxes in the upper part of FileZilla.)
3. Click connect.

If you can use the Windows Explorer, you should be able to use it as well from this point. :)

EDIT: Here are the server information:
Hostname: ftp.cyan.com
Username: wheely
Password: willow

As an alternative here is the Internet/Windows Explorer quick link: ftp://wheely:[email protected].cyan.com

Indeed, the easiest way that won't require any additional programs would be to use Windows Explorer.

If you put ftp://wheely:[email protected] into the address bar in an explorer window you should be all set.

I use Filezilla myself. :)

For people who never used FTP bevor, I found another (old) tutorial that explains the basics here: http://www.ftpplanet.com/ftpresources/basics.htm

Also the online documentation of the FTP-Client FileZilla can be very usefull: http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/documentation/

OK, FTP is again working for me. My brain-fade...

So here is the issue. It was my understanding that the preferred way of submitting logs was as attachments to the trouble tickets. The FTP site was only for attachments that were too large. This has never happened to me so far. I tend to close out logs and start new ones frequently. It looks like it's possible to attach several logs to one ticket and exceed the six meg limit as long as the're split over several attachments. As I said that's how I tend to work anyway.

Others seem to use the FTP site for everything. GD, what would you prefer? Does it make any difference?

Thanks for your help, everyone. :)

I also want to know the answer to Shorahmin's question. I figure that the FTP is a great storage space for those who don't want their computer full of zipped logs and/or to serve as an emergency measure if something happened to their hard drive.

Then again, I'm only speculating.

And once you're there simple drag&drop works fine. No special program needed.

FWIW, I really like SmartFTP.
http://www.smartftp.com/

It has a really nice GUI and is fairly intuitive to use.

I too have been attaching my files to my tickets (haven't exceeded 6MB yet), except in the case of multiplayer bugs that require files from multiple players. It was my understanding that this was the other scenario where they prefer us to use the FTP site, but now I can't remember where I read that. In those cases I have been noting in the ticket the filenames and where they can be found on the FTP site. I too would like to know if there's a preferred way, and/or if I'm doing something wrong in that respect :?

It says so in the From the Developer Forum and the Support FAQ.

Can this be stickied? or is it already referenced in some FAQ post?
